Entry#3 Slanted Reporting/Bias

Today's topic is slanted reporting! Slanted reporting can be seen anywhere, and a common source is the News. Obviously, not all news channels are biased but some are. There are many important things that happen around the world that many people aren't aware of. For example, Yemen's humanitarian crisis, and one that is commonly known at this moment is the invasion of Ukraine. If I am being honest, I watch the news, but I know about world events through social media like Instagram and sometimes Snapchat.  For instance, the invasion in Ukraine is an event all over the news but even then, the news only lets the public know about some things. However, this proves how the news only picks apart from what they really want us to see. Another example of this would be this article (linked below). Sharyl Attkisson speaks about how the news is biased and picks apart the things to display. In a way, it's misleading the viewers and makes them see things from one standpoint. When it comes to the news it's very important to do thorough research and view things from different perspectives. Also, always make sure your sources are reliable!

  1. Your four new entries look pretty good, Kareli. Your writing flows well, and you have good visual appeal with images. Keep working layout to not generate solid blocks of text. You are developing your content pretty well, but there is still room to analyze further and create more significance for your audience. Keep working the concepts of rhetoric to connect to your audience and keep them engaged. Keep at it!
